The birds in our backyard here in Western Australia are quite different from ones we’ve seen before. One of the more colorful ones is the Australian Ringneck.
The locals call them 28’s because of their call. They sound like they are saying “vingt-huit” which is French for that number. They are considered pests by farmers and gardeners in Australia because flocks of them descend and quickly decimate gardens and orchards.
You can read about them on Wikipedia if you want to learn more about these beautifully colored birds.
