The Butcher Bird may not be much to look at, but it has a lovely, fluting song. The homeowners in New South Wales, Australia, where we are house and pet sitting, feed them small pieces of meat and they are happy to come down out of the trees and land on the deck railing to eat them. Sometimes if we are standing near the railing, they will alight a few feet away and stare at us, begging for food. Afterwards they fly into the tree and reward us with a song.
