We drove into Toronto and spent several hours exploring the fascinating castle called Casa Loma. Sir Henry Mill Pellatt built Casa Loma, a Gothic Revival style house and gardens in midtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was constructed over a three-year period from 1911–1914.

The architecture is truly unique and many of the rooms have been restored to their former glory. It was really interesting to see how rich folks lived during that time.

Sir Henry’s story is a very interesting one and we were able to carry around an audio tour handset that presented it well. Although at first, we didn’t think we wanted to see another castle, we were impressed by Sir Henry’s vision and modern inventions.

The solarium, filled with tropical plants which were brought in through tunnels to protect them from the harsh winter weather was a highlight.
