Broad beans aka Fava beans are tasty when you cook them right

Someone mentioned to Laurie that their broad beans were coming in. We knew that some were planted in our garden by the folks that we are house sitting for, but didn’t think we had any growing yet.

When we looked however, we were surprised to find dozens ready to harvest. We learned that we first had to shell the beans from the pods, then parboil them. After that, we removed the beans from the shell. So, a three step process.

We sauteed the shelled beans with onions and some peas and we both decided that we liked them. Good thing too. We are going to have lots of them.

This is the recipe that we started with: Gabriel’s Sauteed Fava Beans
