In the early morning hours, the bustling market in Ubud is jam packed with Balinese locals shopping for their daily groceries and materials to make canangs (offerings). Later, the market caters to tourists looking for souvenirs such as wood carvings, sarongs, and food treats.
During our visit, we enjoyed fresh, sliced papaya and a sweet rice and coconut concoction packed in a cone made of a banana leaf. We also bargained (essential in Bali) for sarongs, required wear when visiting temples.
