Huge, Tame Pelicans at Emu Point Marina

We drove over to Emu Point in southern Western Australia to buy some oysters and enjoy the ocean views. When we arrived, a party boat had just docked and people were disembarking. There was a bloke cleaning fish and he had an audience of these large pelicans who were waiting for scraps. The huge birds mostly ignored the people all around them.

Most of the pelicans I’ve seen before have been in flight and usually a good distance away. Walking up to these birds, I was stunned by how large they are. Also by their eyes which makes them look like cartoons.
